Pontiac, MI – Dashcam footage has been released of deputies lifting a vehicle to help save a woman who was trapped underneath it after a hit and run collision.

On Thursday, Dontonio Tremone Nichols was speeding in an attempt to get a way from police when he struck another vehicle. Nichols fled from his the scene of the accident. The other car had flipped during the accident and the driver was ejected from the vehicle and trapped underneath. The woman’s child was trapped in the car and was dangling upside down. A deputy had witnessed the crash and reacted quickly.
Eight deputies were at the scene of the accident and they worked together to get the car off of the unconscious woman and get her free. Fortunately the child who was strapped in the car was not injured.
“They realized this was life and death, she’s underneath the car, they couldn’t wait for any kind of wrecker assistance, and the jaws of life probably wouldn’t even be functional. She didn’t have the time to wait so they got as many bodies there as fast as they could, lifted the car, and pulled her out.” – Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard
Nichols was eventually caught and arrested. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, driving with a revoked license and obstructing police. He is currently being held on $275,000 bond.
