Just a few weeks ago, Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York went to Twitter as she always does and began telling the harrowing story of her ill grandmother. Through a series of tweets, she showed her legions of liberal followers the horrid conditions her grandmother must endure. And as always, AOC couldn’t help but blame it all on former President Donald Trump. But while the representative might blame Trump for her grandmother’s well-being, AOC’s own “Aunt”, who lives in Puerto Rico, believes Trump has nothing to do with it.

Following the tweet by AOC, the internet appeared to explode as people on both sides of the aisle weighed in on the situation. Many pointed out the glaringly obvious that even if it was Trump’s fault, AOC should have just taken matters into her own hands and fixed her grandmother’s living conditions. Especially when she recently bought a brand new Tesla, but no, it’s better to pander for votes than help those in need.

Wanting to know more about the story, The Daily Mail sent staffers to not only check in on AOC’s grandmother, Clotilde Rivera, but ask her a few questions about living in Puerto Rico. Sadly, Ms. Rivera was not available but AOC’s Aunt was more than gracious to take her place. And although she does claim they need help, it isn’t because of Trump. “In this area people need a lot of help. Many people have needed it for the past four years and haven’t had anything. It’s a problem here in Puerto Rico with the administration and the distribution of help. It is not a problem with Washington. We had the assistance and it didn’t get to the people.”

So not only does AOC have the means to fix the problem yet won’t, but now the man she blames for her ill grandmother appears to have at least tried to help. And it gets much better as AOC’s tweet caught the eye of conservative commentator Matt Walsh. He felt compassion for AOC’s “Abuela” and quickly took action, again – unlike the Democrat. The result, a GoFundMe campaign that raised over $100,000 for grandmother Rivera.

With more than enough money to change her current life, Ms. Rivera could now move into a better living facility and start enjoying her later years. But as it turns out, the family doesn’t want the money as a member of Ocasio-Cortez’s family said they would not be accepting the funds raised, leaving many to ask – why?
